So what's this all about? It's about trials and making your trials bike perfom better. This blog is to share ideas and expose trials riders to technical improvements for both modern, vintage and twinshock machinery.

How To Start A Debate

What a wimpy dab Pap! Or is it?

If you're going to dab do it decisively, and in plain view of the observer. None of this tippy-toeing on the foot-peg, heel on the log B.S.

Had a great ride day Sunday. The Guru was fogging for skeeters on his new modern twin-shock find, a Fantic 300 Professional!

So. IS THIS A DAB OR NOT?

Well.....you should have seen what happened next!
Thought he was trying out for the Nubby but it turned out only to be a practice run.
This has nothing to do with the question....
    How do you score it?

I'm going to say no, because He told some of the best stories while we was drinking at the break and was going home till he drank enough to keep on riding. Hell at some places he would have to fall down to get a one. If a sleeping dog gathers no moss then a trials rider should be able to drag their foot for twenty feet for a 1. My final answer!

Classic Double-Blip all the way. Just look at how that suspension is loaded, can’t do that without the feet firmly on the pegs. Why, I’m just about to launch myself 10 or 15 meters and land…….. well, okay maybe not exactly flying after this. Truth is, you can’t see the other side but my right foot is penned at this point under the rear tire. A fastidious scorer would likely award a solid five for that, but by golly that left foot is totally weight on peg!!!

well if I was the observer, counting it as a point or not would depend on whether he hesitated on top of the log or not. If there was no pause in the Big Mo, I would not count the dab. If however he did pause at the top of the log and I saw the heel touch down on the log, I would count it as a dab. It's no different than leaning on a tree or rock for support, it's still a point...the question is did he gain outside support from the log...(Rules don't say points are just when you touch with your foot off the peg)..... ...and as the observer, if you argue to much and cuss at me because I counted it as a point, I might give you another 10 points.......... just because I can.

Lord knows I have had lots of dabs like that.
